Education all the way at Cheltenham
The second IP-in-Action LIVE event of 2010 took place at the
Thistle Hotel in Cheltenham on Thursday 3rd June with the theme:
“Securing Hospitality, Leisure and Entertainment Venues”.
Attending guests, members and Affiliates were provided with a day that contained an excellent Seminar Programme that included a Keynote from Paul Hennings, Editor IP Focus Magazine, entitled “Planning for Growth with IP”.
Outside the seminar theatre, the exhibition area contained a good number of companies with their products on display for the guests and members to peruse during the refreshment and lunch breaks.
Educational Presentation Programme

Presentations included:
Keynote – “Planning for Growth with IP”

Paul looked at the important issues and the changing client relations required for successful adoption of IP security solutions and the inevitable move towards an IT environment.
“Securing an Olympic Venue – Case Study”
Peter Weller – Solutions Consultant – Verint Systems
This case study presentation highlighted the key customer requirements of the Olympic venue organisers and the deployment of a Video Management Software solution to meet those requirements at the Earls Court and Olympia exhibition premises that are to be venues for the 2012 Olympics.
“Security Centralisation – Monitoring Remote Sites”
Mark Thomas – Managing Director – Cortech Developments
Mark introduced managing security systems over IP and how the activities of all local and remote sites can be monitored as one single operating process, ensuring a quick and efficient response to events.
“Video and Voice - Integrated Control Room Solutions”
Iain Cundy & Dave Beanland – Sales Managers – JVC Kenwood
Our first double act of the day identified that most existing control room solutions employ a combination of video, voice and data services. They then looked at a more integrated approach to the control room, with video and voice-based services combined in an intelligent way to support the operator's role.
“Perimeter Surveillance Solutions”
Andrew Rosenthal – Business Development Manager – CBC Europe
Andrew provided the why, how and where to use the latest surveillance technologies rather than relying on electric fences and manned patrols for perimeter management. He covered primary detection integrated with CCTV and Radar activated surveillance that can “see in the dark” and bad weather.
“Network Cameras in Action – Choctaw Casinos Case Study”
Ramon Grado & Indy Kler – Managing Director EMEA & Sales Manager Europe – IQinVision
Our second pairing provided an informative case study presentation that gave us an insight into the management considerations of a casino, discussed the challenges that are particular to this sector and how they were successfully addressed by the installation of a variety of network cameras.

Throughout the day and following a free buffet lunch with refreshments attendees had the opportunity to spend quality time in the Exhibition Area along with the opportunity to network with fellow guests.
